    SS Alg. General

Sometimes things just take a while to 'come together' and whennthe truth is told and the cliques left out it happens faster!!!

Some months ago a General's cap was offered for $25k. It was a fake and as usual the 'test' was prove it. Who can? We rely on memory and items through our hands.

After a big to do...threats of suspension, law suits, slander etc etc the thread was pulled. The 'experts' scurried away and the issue died.......

I think I have identified the 'maker' of the SS General's and as I've thought all along....ALTESTE!!!!!

          Dave,

Check the thread on the Allgemeine-SS general by Alteste (LOL) that I sent to Nick for dissection. It had the saMe Alteste logo directly on the interior.

Bob, thanks! None of this stuff would 'come together' based on memories and experience, today...however shamefuly so the 'test' of prove it shouts loudest!!!
We didn't have digi cams back when and what Show would allow a camara????

It's bitter sweet at best and frustrating at least...

Who wants to fight anymore??? I'm out of steam....

The Dr. gets accolades (please come back!) and the 'messenger' villified

Great work Dave.. I remember all that hoo haa and it turns out to be a flaming Alteste..

Was it the fact that chaps were fooled by an Alteste, that the OTT threats were made?

.....who knows? I don't know what drives people be it ego or greed. What I do know however, is that it takes a long time and a lot of effort to create a 'following' that will hang on every word and then come to the defense....

I'm just glad that someone didn't get sucked in on a $25,000.00 fake and that the truth prevailed

                            Daz,

The top of the hat looks very small which pulls up the sides into an unusual configuration. I never cared for this trait. Does it have any signs of disassembly and relining-reassembly?

I have seen detailed pics of the visor back a few years ago. I was not convinced.
