Here is my Heer Officers Einheitsfeldmutze. I knew the Vet who brought it home and it came direct from his estate after he sadly died. No messing with the insignia.

    Cheers, Ade.
Nice officers M43 hat Ade; how about a picture of the underside of the bill? A different material used I might wager!

          Jacques,

Man oh man, that pair is spectacular! And can you tell me about the buttons. Which caps should have which kind of buttons. So far, I have seen metal silvered buttons, plastic buttons with holes (for sewing on, of course), and now the style you have posted. Or were they just randomly applied? And further, are button types associated with the type of insignia (trapazoid or 'T') and/or the cap material itself?

Appologize for all the questions, but if I'm going to spend a 'grand' or more, I want the 'real deal'!

          Thanks,
          Mark

Officers caps are more open to variation because many were private purchase items. Here's one that has the T bird but stitched with the backing in a trapezoid. It also has standard issue buttons but no proper buttons holes, just small slits in the wool.

                              Raffaello/Quex,

Thanks for the images. Incredible stitching on the insignia! I assume that the original insignia was always factory machine-stitched? Of course, some examples may be found with re-applied hand stitching.

                              Regards,

It is a fact that most Heer M-43 caps were reissued to the Waffen-SS.............in the las 50 years.
