observations
Hello, thanks for looking. This SS cap is of private purchase origin and in the "old style" pattern , it is produced of lightweight field grey wool tricot. Its capband is produced of correct, low nap black velvet with gold wool piping in slightly varied widths. The bottom edge of the cap is produced of field grey wool Doeskin cloth. The cap has an internal band of thin black pasteboard beneath a full interior lining of two styles of gold artificial silk. This interior is complete with an unmarked cello diamond that is zig zag sewn and covering a stamped size marking of 57½. It retains a full sweatband of brown leather that is machine stitched and connects the front visor of thick , lacquered black leather. ThanksAttached Files

No way is that an M1/24 Overhoff or 499/41 Zimmermann skull. Looks to be a re-applied nicely worn Deschler to me, and possibly the eagle too.
The wear to the TK is (IMHO) inconsistant with the rest of the cap ... based on these photos.
I'd await the knowledgeable opinions of others regarding the cap itself,it would cause me concern though.
Ian.

These pics are not the best and their aren't many to go by, we will need more and of better quality. But first off I see the liner is rolled at some points but not at others. There also seems to be a thread line in the black velvet band just above the piping. Wear of the body and liner don't match that of the visor and insignia. I'm not liking it so far. Are there any markings under the SB? Just to many questions with this one, I'm afraid.
Edited. Oops I see That Doug added the other pics.Last edited by Kreager; 07-02-2007, 08:58 AM.
