    Opinions on Rural Police Visor

Hello I picked up this visor today. It looks like a EM visor but it has an officers chin cord. The eagle seems to set a little lower than normal. The cap doesn't have any vents but i've read that's not a firm rule. Has anyone come across this maker before. Thanks for any information. Kirby

            Hello,

I am a police collector and not a member of the "schirmmutze experten" here on the cap forum, but your cap looks fine to me. Senior NCO's (Meister d. Polizei) of the police were entitled to wear officer's cords and there are many period photographs showing this to have been done, so I would not worry about that. The eagle is lower than some but not unusual at all. The eagle itself seems to be a rather thin stamping, but I can't say more from the photos. The police were civilians. They bought their own uniforms in many cases, and the "rules" are guidelines that were often not followed to the letter by the local tailors and uniform shops that put these things together.

Your cap looks quite clean. If it is not in your area of interest let me know.

            Regards,
            William Unland

Hello Guys Thanks for the imput. anks It's always good to get a second opinion. THe cap is in well worn but good condition. The eagle is a little flat compaired to several other I have but the wear matches the visor. Thanks Again, Kirby

                  Hi,
IMHO it's a good one, nobody knows what has occured for 60 years, so the chin-cord could be period or restored, but cap is OK .

                          Hi Kirby -

I wondered who got that set. I think the cap is quite nice - either an upgraded EM/NCO visor or as William said, a straight-out visor for a high-ranking NCO.

Hello A nice cap Carlos. I have a Luftwaffe Erel with the same lining. Yes Don the cap is part of a set that was on ebay for a few hours. It turned out the guy only lived 30 miles away. Small world. Kirby

Kirby--I like your cap, and its made by a rare maker. My Schupos have eagles at about the same height as yours. My unissued NCO visor has officer's buttons with a leather chinstrap--upgrades are not uncommon.

Carlo--yours, IMHO, is an officers with an NCO eagle--I wouldn't be surprised if the officer (or his family) got rid of the eagle, and later on down the road it was replaced with an NCO version--you should restore it to its original splendor!
