HG Luft M43 for review

David, I know you sent me photos of this, but I have not had any free time to get back to you, so here goes. It looks odd. I don't get the vent grommets. It's obviously an M43, why the grommets. The materials look good, but the multi-number stamp inside, I do not care for. It's like a date stamp on an early tropical cap or something. Then, there is the sweatband, reminiscent of a bergm******252;tze also. I am not sure about the eagle either. Usually the materials used on this cap (the odd wool and the Italian type hbt rayon lining), are found on late war M43 caps. Unless this is some rare variant that I have never seen (and it COULD be), I would pass. Why HG? Maybe it's a legit female cap, I don't know. In hand would tell if it's a real cap or not.

HG m43 cap

Here is a m43 cap that I was told was HG. It is from a trusted friend I meet on ebay and has a good reputation. I do not want to mention his name. I have looked the cap over and find it to be correct. I have had many vet purchased m43's in my hands over the years and there is not much to doubt about this cap. The vent grommets are strange and is the only thing that jumps out at me. It was in storage for years and lays flat not a displayed look. I would guess there were many techniques used for the grommets. There is no rossette. It is also stamped 57 at top can not see it in photos.

And what makes this hat a HG example? Perhaps you can ask him.
