edelweiss original ? it looks a little odd shouldnt the stem extend down a little more it doesnt look like it has been broken and two diferent color threads ?

I agree with Kreager...it's an original wartime Edelweiss with a broken stem. Looks like it broke right at were the sewing hole is on the lower stem. Here's one of my Bergm******252;tze without a broken Edelweiss:
