    Help needed!

    Dear collectors,
can you help me in this: generally speaking If a get a field grey M40 and M43 caps without insignia and without any trace of insignia, how can I recognize if it is WH or SS possibly something else.Did these caps have an insignia factory applied in every case or did it a soldiers on their own when they got them for use?
    Thank you a lot !
    Petr.

[QUOTE=SNIPER7;2043485]..Generally the ss cap Model 43 have 1 frontal bouton and the wh cap 2...

      Incorrect!!

What would probably be much more accurate would be to say that WSS M43 hats can be found in one or two button configurations, where Army M43's are normally encountered in the two button style.

Yes, i have seen many SS M43 caps with two pebbled buttons.I guess there is no way how them without original insignias identify.I have two late war M43 caps in mint condition without any insignias they say directly from the storage. It would mean there was not any rule as for M 43 caps dispensing to SS or WH late war-they took any cap put their insignia on and went to fight-maybe at the very end of the war only-that is my guess.
Looking forward to next opinion. Petr.
