Nice cap, it is possible that it is a jeager and not gebirgsjager cap. Jacques

My vote is for Jäger as well. I think that the green is a light enough shade to make me comfortable with it not being Admin; although Paul's point is well taken - I have seen obvious Admin caps where some doofus had crammed an Edelweiss in between the eagle and wreath to try to double the value...

This green is such a tough call. I thought it was GJ when I first saw it because of the color. What makes a cap jager and not mountain troop. The existance of the edelweis?

I've been doing some hard research and I think I'm going to have to call this cap a Jager. My reasoning and correct me if I'm wrong, has to do with the color piping (bright green), lack of edelweiss and the slate grey body found on this cap (characteristic of GJ and Jager and not Admin.). Thanks guys for the lead in the right direction. I'm happy with calling this cap a Jager. I appreciate everyones input

Carlo, Grassgreen is for panzer genadier. Jager is light green, just like GJ. Jager soldiers were equiped much like a mountain troop, but considered light infantry. I think they were formed in 1940. They faught in that area just below the mountains but above the plains.

As for the Admin dark green. I have always heard that their dark green was very close to the color of the capband or M36 collars. Anyone else heard of this theory?

My question is, was the muller logo printed directly onto the shield? If so this would explain the wear of their logo.
Good question.... somebody has also ?
