    Panzer officers visor cap

    Hi,

yesterday i recieved this cap. Has it a chance to be authentic?
I know the color is a very strange pink and the the chincord is attached in a unusal manner.
Or is it a 100% repro?
    thanks in advance.

Yes fake with a period sweatband added. Take a look at the sweatband. It is marked size 60 yet the cap is marked size 58.

is it possible, that somebody has repaired this cap during the war?

No, the cap itself is a fake. The piping, materials, sweat shield and lining are all post war reproduction. I can't tell if the visors is cross hatched or not. It may be period too but the cap is not. The weave of the lining along with the tell tail folded under edges are with out a doubt post war. Someone added the cork to give at a more period look. That sweatband had glue on it once so it never had cork. It would have had sponge. Cork was set behind the front lining stitches on period visors or just set in. It was never glued on.

When all opinions say the same, it must be so.
                            Ok, thank you.

Pass. Stitch-up. Maybe some good parts, but ruined.
