Stonemint's Civil Picks of the Week

In keeping with the thought that we should point out bargains in quality, price and rarity, I'll point out civil hats that I think are worth the money.

First is a Velvet-banded Forestry officer's visor with metal insignia, which appears to be unissued for only $450. It is on Jesson's Relics site. Most officers forestry visors are around $750, and velvet-banded are much rarer.

The second is a nice Ludwig Vogele Reichsbahn 2nd model with the bevo winged wreath on ebay.de right now for a "buy it now" price of 200 Euros. It looks mint, and has the most desireable chincord (imho), and has 3-rings of piping.

    The item # is 110133243869:

If anyone here wins/buys them, please post them here (I would buy them myself, but I already have examples of each type).

I don't plan on buying either one, but I appreciate the heads-up.

I've been looking for one like this and the price is right...too bad the seller won't ship to the US otherwise I'd be sending him some Euros right now. Is there a forum member in Germany that would be willing to help out?

Paul--I would just contact the seller and tell him you would but it if he would ship to the US--I've done this several times myself.

Thanks for the thought. Did that already...no response. Not meant to be, I guess.

The seller finally responded with his apologies...but only after the auction closed at only 151 Euros. The buyer "thaipacific-international" certainly doesn't sound very European.

Like I said: it wasn't meant to be. Thanks for the heads-up anyway.

I mostly collect Wehrmacht, but I have a strong interest in 1940's era railroading. I've been toying with Reichsbahn headgear as a way of bridging interests. Would look nice displayed with my Fleischmann BR39 2-8-2.
