I've not seen a General's Erel visor cap that had a standard klasse liner

Mint outside, totally worn on the inside, this looks a tad odd. Liner is from Hans Durbek distributor of Vienna. Was it in cap when originally made? or mated up afterwards. I would like to see atleast an EXTRA klasse for Generals. That is my personal choice.

To me, this cap is NOT an erel, look at the shape. It's a put together or "Frankenstein" cap.

It is a parts cap IMHO. The exterior materials are unlike any I have seen on an Erel before and as already mentioned the wear certainly does not match.

Nick, I agree, the material was never used by erel, possibley by the Bundeswehr!

now, now Nick, let's not start too much trouble. Enough has been said on this topic, I think. First off, a Luftwaffe General, let alone, an Erel for $8k, in my book, is the buy of the decade. Just my opinion.

Rhetorical question: How does one dealer come into a LW General, 2 SS Generals, and 2 SS color-piped caps, plus a KM officer's tropical visor that I've only seen referenced in books?

Back on topic, I am not sure if this has been mentioned but I am pretty sure that the Erel retailer logos were only used for Heer visors. I am pretty sure the retailers only sold army visors as part of the army’s Offizier Kleiderkasse. I have not seen one on a Luft or Kreigs cap before. Anyone????

I'm not sure of that Nick. The uniformen shops were independent of the Kleiderkasse as the Kleiderkasse was a memership scheme run by the army / state. I have a real catalogue with the guy's membership number and the tearout order cards.

It would be interesting to find out if a Kleiderkasse member could buy through a uniformen shop using his account, but from what I have been led to believe is that the Uniformen shops paid extra to advertise their names in the caps to set them aside from the kleiderkasse system and the erel only marked ones, otherwise they would have the officer kleiderkasse in them.

Some officer's took great pride in being able to afford the higher prices of a uniformen retailer over a kleiderkasse outlet. Sort of like buying from Holters instead of the government. A snobbery angle over the rank and file officer. The same occured within the British Army and still does today.

DONALD if your out there and secretly reading, let us know.

Too bad he doesn't rename his business THIRD REICH DEPOT. That would minimize the confusion. This guy must be the Brandt Murphy of the mid-west!!! Oh sorry... am I being insensitive? Maybe I should have said Christine Murphy of the mid-west since she's picked up where Brandt left off and still ripping people off... and they still write her sweet thank you letters for it. Kind of reminds me of that outfit that used to be in NJ.
