Officers M-43 from KC Show

I got a chance to attend the KC Militaria show with my father about a week and a half ago. I saw a some dealers there that have known me since I was about ten years old! They still remember me coming to the shows with my father some 30 years ago.
I really enjoyed talking with everyone, and picked up this nicely worn officer's M-43 cap, among other goodies.

Yeah, looks good. Did the insignia come loose then repaired or something?

It doesn't appear that the insignia has ever been off of the cap.

Just looks like the backing material is sticking out a bit on the left hand side. Loose stitching?
