    Fieldmade Camo Cap?

I am home from college for the summer, trying to save my collection from becoming a casualty of my parents divorce. Almost everything in my collection has either been passed through the family or given to me by friends/acquaintances. For this reason the items are varied, but mostly Third Reich related. There are a couple earlier acquisitions that I have always questioned so I have decided to post them up for your review. Please give me your opinions and ask questions if needed.
I acquired this cap from the son of an American tanker. The insignia was removed (denazified) by him after the war. What are your thoughts?

Would it be worth it to replace the insignia with a carefully sewn on original?

I like it too! Looks promising, liner, buttons overall construction etc... Does it have any history? Source?
It would look neat with a LW trap patch for that LW field division look ! The buttons appear to be LW blue or late war generic grau-blau.
Paratroop General Meindl wore something like this didn't he?

So do you think it would be wise to have an original Luft trapezoid sewn on? I would like to display the cap but the lack of insignia bothers me.

You could restore it either way. I know that many collectors would rather leave it alone (in its unmessed with "as found" condition) but I would not hesitate to "spruce it up" a little, especially if its hard to proof being 100% original...

So with that said you could go either way; WH or LW. Maybe you should match it up with both traps and see which one aligns best with the stitching and make a decision that way. I think it would look cool with a LW trap! Nick

Nice cap. Certainly believable. I think adding insignia would be fine.WR Jim
