    @Ernst-H .......... Will not probably sell I them, exchange maybe sometimes for an army priest. There I would become maybe weakly :-))
    @Albert .......... yes 1928 is the year of the production. I have the original effects of the imperial weir still from the cap. @Colorado ............ I have considered to show only the cap and later only the picture. Because I with him do not put of the pictures here in the forum yet manages has helped me MadJack and I did not want to make it so complex.

        modified???

        The cat is out of the bag! I had a bad feeling about that...So the cap was found with the Reichswehr era insignia that you are now showing loose and modified to match the Wehrmacht "Nebelsoldat" picture.... enhancing the overall display and by doing that, also now making it a more attractive item for collectors(for the purpose of selling/trading it)?

        If it had a 3rd Reich Nebel unit issuance stamp, it would be a historically significant piece but now its a post war modified item... pretending to be something it is not (regardless of the Wehrmacht "proof" picture).

        Well at least you are honest about it...BUT personally I would have prefered seeing it (and owning it) in its original untouched Weimar era configuration with the proper insignia matching the 1928 date stamp!
        Unfortunately now its been tampered with... Too bad as its become a fraud! (non WAF members would never know this of course and if it ever changes ownership, it will most likely go with the "proof positive" picture...) The wreath does not even match the period picture! Nick

            Hello Nick,
            I think you are jumping to conclusions too quickly, perhaps. It was not uncommon for Reichwehr era items to be updated to Third Reich period insignia, especially in the transition period around 1934 to 1936. You see many Reichwehr era tunics with Third Reich period eagles added to the breast. This visor cap carries the first pattern eagle and wreath used around 1934/35/36. I would have no problem seeing this as a legitimate period change. Even the picture in the magazine shows early insignia.
            I do not think that Marcus admitted changing the insignia himself, but rather was just showing what may have been on at one time, in my opinion.
            Thank you,
            Curtiss

              OK that could be true, (sorry MMARCUS!!!) that I was a little harsh, but I find it a coincidence that he happened to have the "right" early insignia readily available for this thread along with the newspaper which makes me a little suspicious about the piece being altered to match the picture...that's just a little too convenient in my book, but I might be wrong... Either way I prefer the "old" set up better! I have a reichsheer tunic which was upgraded with TR insignia so I definitaly agree it was done, but usually on more common items. Such a leather drivers cap is very uncommon for Heer regardless of the picture and the fact that he mentions that the piece might be available for trade fuels that suspicion that it was upgraded to TR to make it more attractive... Thanks! Nick

                    [quote=Ernst-H;1987184]Vielen Dank MMarcus,
                    This caps thus shows that we still need to learn so many many things about TR germany and its complex clothing. Dismissing something because it hasn;t been covered in the reference books (as some members admit they would have done if it were not for the accompanying period picture) clearly is not the way to do things.
