Someone recently sent me these pics--they were from a website in Texas, and the dealer sold this as an original. (Whoever sent it, can you attach a link?):

This SS genl Alteste just went for $355 on ebay: AH HA...!!!! So YOU were the other bidder???? I was a bidder on this SS visor myself. So are you happy with the visor? The authinticity??? The construction of the visor are all 100%, and you UBER satisfied with your purchase from seller/Ebay/everything???? I am very happy this great visor found a good home with your collection, and I HOPE you cover her back up with ORIGINAL skull and eagle. A visor this clean deserves a great home, and owner like yourself. I would have bought it and just sold it to a large internet dealer since I am a M-43 fan/guy myself. I also know that "storing" visors are a LOT harder for me, than collecting M-43's in my 800 sq. ft. French Quarter condo. My wife doesn't think that NAZI VISOR CAPS are a decorative item like I do, she prefers Winchester sculptures over my headgear collection I keep trying to decorate with. LOL..!!! Myself... I prefer my style of german flags draped over night stands, topped off with my Luger and M-43 next to my side of the bed. Oh Yeah, that went over like a turd in a punch bowl all right!!! LOL... My next house will have a man cave, where I can decorate it like the "eagles nest" without catching flak for my taste in room decor. The visor would look great in a room like I have in mind, and I hope she has a place of honor in your display. So I'm glad I got beat out on this nice piece you won on E-bay. I congradulate you on your buy, and look forward to you posting pictures once she is put back to authinticity and in full regalia again. TY Ceasarion

                Stonemint... Thank You

Again Thank You Stonemint... as well as the others.... who went to great lengyhs to bring us ALL into the light, of Identifying and educating us on spotting these fakes. Thank You Stonemint for stopping me from "SPENDING" sizable amounts of cash, needlessly towards these reproductions sometimes promoted as "Authintic" by (or what we thought were) reputible dealers websites. Our hard earned money on these worthless copies. Constructed obviously by Mr. Bruener/ and is the conseptionist of the alteste cap manufacturering company with the intentional plot in mind to decieve collectors of WW II German visor caps, and the entire WW II collecting community in whole. This was Great information STONEMINT. YOU taught me a lot with your dilligence to continue to post and help us spot and ID these fakes as you see them "coming around" onto the marketplace. I'm putting you in for Iron Cross stonemint, the silver star and the Presidential and congressional medals of honor. You have earned it. 2 thumbs up. By the way Stonemint??? Tell me Stonemint, what you know about M-43 caps? Please tell me this Breuno character didn't fool with M-43's. Did he? Oh God I got to drag out my ENTIRE collection of M-43's and check the celluloid diamonds. Thanks Stonemint again!!! You saved my rearend, by sharing your knowlege AGAIN TY.

Ceasarian, thanks for the kudos, we all try to help each other around here.

Sorry, I do not collect M-43s, but feel free to post them, and the M-43 specialists will chime in.

This was sold as a repro by Alden. I believe it to be an early Alteste:

As I recently discovered I was harbouring one of these in my collection, I was pointed to this thread and thought I might as well add my images to the catalogue already here.

I hope the images might prove of interest.

                                Regards Richard.
