Has the visor been resewn? Looks like it from one of the scans. UWO, can you please post a pic of the whole underside of the cap? Can you also show a pic of the rear of the cap where the piping seams join?

Since the oakleaves dont fit between the piping I think its either reichswehr /circa pre 35 or a frankenstien cap.. I think its possibly the former..Billbert

The cap band would have been a lighter green if it were Reichswehr to begin with, not the current bottle green... There's stitching visible on the exterior of the cap where it meets the visor, which is a big no-no. From the shape of the peak I would almost say that it's a Latvian Special - that's why I wanted to see the piping seams.

Sorry but I must not post other pics.
I suspect that the visor is re-sewn.
Could we thinking that is an original period era restored visor or a current restored one?
Have you ever see some others restored and re-sewn issued visors.

Dave I don't know what it is but I would not own it. The cap band is way too narrow, the base and sweatband have been restitched, the piping is so white it looks bleached. Damm I don't know what it is but it is scary. Maybe it was made for a midget with a small head. Oops, forgot, the cap band material does not look right.

meaning the parts of other caps were used to make one complete cap.

I didnt say it was exclusively Reichswehr..There is a period after 33 were the cap band darkened to bottle green but the cockades or cockade and wreath are worth..Although it is a big NO NO about the exposed stitching below the piping I know over the years I ve seen cheapest grade mass produced em style caps were you could see stitching blow the piping..It may well be a Latvian special.. But maybe not..dont want to buck the mob BUT just telling your what I ve seen over the years..Billbert

You guys are getting too good at this!!!!

Of particular interest is the sweatband....when have we seen this in a (contemporary) reproduction. I'm not talking a repo from 40 odd years ago but (today)....

They are listening and learning but thank goodness getting their facts a bit mixed up!!!

At the same time...the members here are doing the same thing; LEARNING.
