I spent the last 3hrs trying to find the address Wilhelmstraße 110 listed on the cap, past or present. I find nothing. The closest thing I have found was Gestapo headquarters at Wilhelmstraße 102.

.......has basic knowledge and logic been diminished to a 'carbon date' test to prove something is period???
Of course he knows Chris...plastic diamond, etc, etc
One can NOT be in this hobby for 40+ years, put on shows, promote events and NOT at least 'hear' the information swirling around.
It's dealer BULLSH*T through and through.....
MAX Certified means NOTHING and no wonder the venues are fading away!!!Regards,

Ok, guys, here is an idea--NTZ is getting 2 altestes...send pix with an offer to sell to Mr. Wittmann for 3/4 of what he is asking--then will see just how much "faith" he has in the originality of an Alteste!
(BTW, you shouldn't have scrapped that SS Alteste of Bob's--Wittmann would have paid you at least $4,000 for it, because his experts told him they are real!)NEC SOLI CEDIT

The funny thing is if someone were to put one on estand they would get lynched.

You might want to check the late 1950s through 1970 for Studio Breuer, in Berlin. That was the source of the Alteste, that I know of. Dr. Breuer bought the rremains of the August Muller business and offered hats with the post-war Muller logo. Under the cloak of a theatrical supply house, Dr. Breuer sold many tunics and hats.

My personal doubts have been answered on this matter by the members of this forum and outside experts (honest ones I mean) who confirmed the accuracy of the information on this forum. The actual response was "I have received feedback and the conclusion is everything you need to know has already been covered/exposed on the forums."
If this cap is original then I would like to offer my Alteste Allg. SS General's Cap for the bargain price of $3000!
