What you ask is not the easiest thing to do, since I do not use tripods etc. but rather do all my shots hand held.........but here you go.

Ron, I agree with Eduardo and still think your cap is good. What you have is something unusual and in great shape.

This is certainly a correct cap, even though I have not seen similar in caps I thought were late-war. Usually, the braid goes right up to the seam. But one could hardly argue with this well-tarnished example. We are always learning!
