Not all of these "Carl Halfar" black panzer M43's were found in a worn state. Some had very little wear. Some did not. Many had to be machine washed due to the poor storage conditions when they were found. Some were lost and beyond repair according to those who first saw them.
Member "Richard P" posted a comparison of 2 other examples. One had a lot of wear, the other did not. Both had reapplied traps that were not machine stitched,

Both of the caps that Richard posted had Russian capture/ museum markings and stamps.
Both of these caps appear to be dated 1943 as does my cap. Allan's cap which started this thread appears to be dated 1944. Perhaps he could confirm that ???

As already stated, this "tea towel" or "T-Shirt" type material of the liner material has been observed in other caps from the period. Here is an SS sidecap that member "Francesco" posted with this type of liner material,

One more and last one of Francesco's cap.
And a bit of history/ backround regarding the find of the "Carl Halfar" black panzer M43's
Originally posted by Hasse.M View PostI have a similar marked cap. It was bought from a museum in moscow almost 15years ago. My friend bought maybe 20caps and 20wrappers. From the museums displays and from the storage room. The seller was the museum manager.
He dident only buy cloth items, also many badges and medals.
Ca 50% of the cloth items had no insignias..
Many of the caps and wrappers was marked with many different russian stamps and markings. Both from the museum and earlier on.
I dont know if this means a **** but many of the items bought was and is textbook in every way. And some of them looked pretty much like the caps shown here..Attached FilesLast edited by 90th Light; 12-13-2013, 06:47 PM.
