    Luftwaffe Generals Cap

I found this cap listed in a local auction house. What is your opinion off this cap. These are the only photos available. Listed as an original WWII piece.
    Thanks for your help.
    Thanks, Richard

        Any opinions?

I know there are only three photos but I would think that would be enough for most of you. Opinions Please??????
        Thanks,
        Best Regards,

            Luftwaffe General Cap

Thanks for the comment Stonemint. I emailed the auction house yesterday and told them this was a reproduction. The auction house called me back today and thanked me for my opinion, but stated there German uniform expert looked at it again and stated it was original. I pointed out all the things that were wrong with the cap (I learned from this site and some books). He told me they would get someone else to look at it. He said it would be removed if it was found to be a repro. We will see.
            Again thanks,
            Richard

I think the eagle is much to big for a visor cap, it fits to the uniform.

Are the insignias made of celleon or bemroid metall?

Mmmmmm that diamond looks ripe for a b test.

Seeing "that" marking means extra scrutiny of the piece, with the diamond showing a clear shine, it isa very, very high probability of the item being plastic.

The auction house don't want to know, you have done your best to warn them. Lets all run together.

Isn't the round thingamabob in the wreath supposed to be red, silver, black then gold? It is on my generals... Also, I'm thinking the wings on the wreath look rather crappy even for an amateur like me. Shouldn't they be defined like this?

Phoenix--on almost every LW visor I have seen, the outer roundel of the cockade is gilt, so yours (and the fake) are correct.

With regard to yours, you have primarily celleon insignia, which makes for a much cleaner, smoother, and neater appearance than bullion. I would have to see your entire cap to give you an opinion on whether it is wartime--please post pix if you can.

Sorry for my lack of clarity - it's the inside ring bordering the Red that I was concerned about. Is this (red, gold, black gold) a variant that's acceptable or something else... Rick C.

                          Luftwaffe Generals cap sold.

This cap sold at a hands on auction this past week end for $6,900.00.
Just thought I'd pass this on.
                          Best Regards,
