    Luftwaffe sidecap insignia question

    Hello everyone,

Quick question: from my understanding, most luft overseas caps had their insignia hand applied. Is this correct?

And, weren't most insignia machine applied for Heer, Kreigsmarine, and SS caps?

Am I correct on both statements? And if so, why were the luft's hand applied while the others were done by machine?

Actually this depends on the maker. Many Luftwaffe sidecaps and M43s do have machine sewn insignia, but these are encountered in smaller numbers than handsewn examples.

And interestingly, some caps have a mixture of machine and hand sewn insignia.
