Yours and your friends collection is amazing, among the best I ever have seen. The room with all the tunics and insignia framed on the wall and the long table is as perfect as it could be, and now these Gbj. beautiful headgears.

I'm sure that you must have won lotto recently with the huge expansion of your collection. Best of luck to you, my only recent win was a mere but I'm not complaining.

Here is my little addition. It came to me devoid of the eagle/cockade which was restored to the cap by my mother of all people (I was home on leave). It is a very well worn cap with most of the nap gone from the wool, apart from under the edelweis, fold up sides and eagle.

Here is a pic of the very well worn interior with a leather headband. There is no stiffener in the front, which may possibly have been removed and I suspect that there was one due to damage from removal around this area.

Bergmuetzen are my favourite of all the WW2 caps. I thought I'd take the opportunity to share two of mine.

I like the salty ones. Here's a nice early model complete with original early edelweiss and insigna.

This is my second one, a different maker model with the cap band dated 1941. It apparently was once worn by Gebirgsjaeger General Ernst Schlemmer.
