M43 Bad one?

I disagree (with reservations). Many collectors accept these as original war-time produced in Italy. However the trap insignia is not the one normally encountered on these type hats. If the trap is sewn with the same thread as the rest of the hat is constructed, and not sewn through the lining, I would be happy with it.

I appreciate the information you've all provided. I think it is going to stay on the good shelf. The trap is sewn with the same thread and not through the lining. This was bought years ago by a picker at an estate sale, so added with the rest, I'll put it (tentatively) on the good list. Besides, it was the best price..FREE..

As stated, many collectors accept these hats as war-time produced while, obviously, other very learned and experienced members do not want to mess with them. They will never command the price or demand that a textbook German made M-43 hat will bring.
