General's Rank Cap's for Non Combatants

The other day we had a thread with an excellent older book posted. A pic was singled out that interested me for several reasons.

The pic is the Chaplain General's. I must admit that I didn't realise that there was a General's rank in the clergy. I knew of the Judicary General and the Admin General, but not that.

Regardless of that, I saw a Judicary General's a few years ago that had the piping from the top down, gold - Wine Red - Gold in the style that we accept from the manufacturer. I have seen an admin General that has both the cap band piping in green and the crown as Gold Celleon, as well as the cap cord and insignia in Gold Celleon.

I think that the Chaplains shown if it existed, could have been upgraded from a standard cap by having the crown repiped in gold, a sort of upgrade so to speak like an Oberst updating a tunic for instance.

This view is only related to non combatant General's who's branch of service is shown on the cap in some form.

What do you guys think. Here's the pic again, the construction looks good and not frankied from the only available shot!!

A bishop's hat does exist. However,I have a problem with this example. As a general rule the branch piped general's rank cap had gilt or gold piping on the top of the crown and the branch of service piping on the top of the cap band. The bottom of the cap band was also piped in gilt or gold.It is certainly possible that variations may exist but I would be wary of them.

Here is another example on a bishops tunic.
I believe violet would be correct on the visor IMO.

Somewhat off the topic but can anyone who owns a chaplains visor post some good pics. I am on the hunt for one. I have seen a few up for sale in recent years, one I missed with bad timing and the other I handled as the SOS and did not like. Out of the ones I have seen over the last few years most I feel were medical with the added cross. I know I have ran into many medical visors over the years that have that very dark almost purple piping. What I am looking for is a very good close up shot (preferably in natural lighting) of the piping. I want a get a good vibe for this rare color just in case one pops at the MAX or on the web. Better yet if any of you are getting bored of a chaplain let me know.

Stubaf, I agree that the hat could have been re-tailored after purchase, as it is obviously a hi-quality hat. However, we all need to see under the hood to see if this truly is a Franky.

Nick, one of the English sites has a Chaplains--Regimentals or the Old Brigade--is that the one you handled at the SOS?

              Nick:

Here's a close up of the piping and cross from a hat I used to own. This was taken with natural lighting.

              Hope this helps.

              Regards,

              Drew

                Nick:

Go to www.ulric-of-england.com and click onto headgear. Although it's been sold, you will find a Chaplian's visor made by Erel.

That is the one I was interested in. By the time I contacted them she was sold.

Look at the gliding knots of the chinstrap....Is that plastic, inside the knots?
I always thought they should be more round and made of metal......

                      Regards,

Have they found an EREL goldmine? There are some to choose from on that site.
