Not sure if this is the correct forum for this or not, but will move it if you think it should go somewhere else like the helmets forum. I bought this last year. It was one of two the guy at the flea market had. My friend bought the other one and took it back to the States at a big show. He said he showed it to several LW flight gear specialists, who told him it was one of only a few known examples and that it was used to measure pilots' heads to fit them for flight helmets.
I just wanted to see if anyone out there had any info on what this is and how rare it is. It does appear to be used for measuring head dimensions, but it's odd to me that it would be equipped with the commo fittings - maybe so the pilot could fly in it for a while to be sure the size was correct?
Finally, I know people hate to talk prices, but I may sell this and just wanted a ballpark estimate. It's not easy as it's certainly not a common item, but any estimates would be more than I have now. Originality is 100% and condition is excellent with only slight wear.
Thank you,
Dale
Sorry about the lousy photos taken mounted on a teddy bear, but I don't have a head form and this was the best thing I could find!
