    Need advise?

Hey guys, Im new in this field of collecting and need some direction. I have found this Luft NCO visors hat from an old vet here in tennessee. It is gray with red piping. Size 58 1/2. It is made bt Robert Lubstein? Made in Berlin. The only thing is the pin on the front is missing the swastika. I have pictures i can email to someone. My questions are, What is the opinion on the value of this hat? and How hard is it and where can i find a replacement pin? Im going to the SOS in 2 days but would like know where to look before i go. I have never been and dont know the pricing situations up there? Thank you to anyone in advance for helping out a newbie!!

    best regards,

    Hello,

Sounds like an Artillery visor. Pin should be no problem to find for $20 to $30 +/-. Value of such caps in good condition go for $375 to $475 range.

    Best regards,
    Richard

Sounds like a flak visor. I would say price wise $500 +/- $100 for condition. The bird should be real easy to find.

        Hi hdmarley,
I think a Lufty cap with red farbe is for flak troops.
Really need to see some photos for a 'ball-park' valuation.

I think the cap is good as I stated in a PM. The Eagle, ? should be replaced. Am I wrong? It looks good to me. My only thought is that it is big size.

Looks like a nice private purchase Flak for a NCO.

Personally, I would leave the eagle as it is if it is evident that it is original to the cap and never removed. If it appears to be a replaced insigna, just change it for a complete one.

I am certain that many people at the SOS will be able to advise properly about that cap, its value and what to do with it. From my understanding, prices at the SOS are not cheap. However, take this comment with caution, I have never been there and that is only hersay which I am reporting.

                        Cheers

The wreath/cockade look a little crooked in the picture......Appears that pin(s) are perhaps missing?......I'd say replace the eagle to display, but retain the original with the cap for posterier sake......That way when you get rid of it, you can let the next person know it was "de-nazified".....Bodes

                              re: need advice

Thank you to everyone who has helped out. All pins are present just loose. I found an eagle to preplace the broken one and i will tighten the wreath up after inspecting it closer. You guys have really made this purchase seem worth while to a new guy in the cloth headgear area of collecting!! Thanks guys.
