Max Berger of Hoxter a.d. Weser from my collection, belonging to Gefreiter Driefers of 1./16th Engineers' battalion which had its garrison in that town. The visor's sweatband shows an acceptance stamp of the 1./51th Engineers' battalion also. The 16th Engineers' Battalion was formed in Hoexter but some personnel was afterwards used to form the 51th Engineer’s battalion. I have two shots of the owner also. The first with some of his comrades and the second, sadly, of his grave …
