Another maker with a complex history: August Geiger (A1/666), founded in 1872, Dänischestr. 24 of Kiel.

First trace of his ancestor Theodor August as a kurschner in the same street address but no. 13 in 1877 and 1880:

(please note the dumb lining, but the sweatband with the nickname Taifunmütze, a trademark used by Scherff also)

1934: he is classified as a Navy equipment maker:

For example we know for sure that in August 1954, the assembly of the new Rettungsmedaille model (coined by the Hamburger Münze and by the Companies Deumer and Steinhauer & Lück of Lüdenscheid) was outsourced to the so-called Spezialfirma für Uniformen, Orden und Seemannsbekleidung August Geiger of Dänischenstrasse (see page 140):

Mutzenmachermeister Emil Scherff, Roonstrasse 84, from the 1938/1939 Wilhelmshaven adressbuch:

This is a manufacturer who we have to pay a lot of attention because he was definitely already in business in the imperial period, but he survived WW2 also and continued his activities

I remember also of a Graf Zeppelin Mütze (allegedly of the imperial age) which showed at the top of the rhomboidal sweatshield the Geiger’s logo over an enormous airship, all printed in blue, on sale in the site of Ralf Haas. Externally it bore the imperial crew’s badge over a reichskokarde. Overall, absolutely not convincing but unfortunately I can not find the link.

It seems that the Company is still in business but under new management as a supplier of emblems, badges and rank insignia. The business activity is the manufacture of hats and clothing, in particular yacht club suits and uniforms for the merchant navy and the Bundeswehr. A retail store in these articles is affiliated. The proprietor and address now are : Ruth Bösche, Feldstraße 133:
