Riga Universal Veikals (RUV) was a department store in the center of Riga, Audeyu street 16, Latvia. The shopping center's own origins back to the autumn of 1919, when an Army Economic Store (Armijas Ekonomiskais Veikals) was established and managed by Latvian Ministry of War to supply goods to Latvia's soldiers, who were still fighting to consolidated the country's independence and to combat the rampant speculation. Following the cessation of hostilities in 1920, the store's popularity soared. Its turnover increased rapidly and eventually it outgrew its premises. Thus, in 1936, construction commenced of a new and larger building, which was opened in 1938. The founding stone was laid by the Latvian president Karlis Ulmanis, together with the architect, Arturs Galindoms. Now it is known as Galerija Centrs shopping center.

This work was stopped in my drawer for a long time for the lack of time due to work and personal reasons. Now I can finally catch up and I'm managing to post it slowly when I have a little time available. As you have seen I am following as far as possible the chronological order of the thread, focusing on the less famous makers/retailers because in the past I have already posted the pages of the adressbuecher of Germany's largest towns with the names and the addresses of the best known hatters.

I will continue as soon as possible, because I still have many almost unknown companies to post. Thanks again for your support.
