Another early purchase of mine from the 1970's. This cap came from Nottingham Arms fair via Rob Tredwyn of "Military Antiques" of London, who is still around today. I recall it was £40. This cap has seen some very heavy use. The waffenfarbe was once Infantry white, but has been altered to Panzer Grenadiers green. As can be seen, this has faded and shows age. I hope that it is a period conversion? I suspect that it may be, as if it was a modern alteration, Panzer rosa pink would have been a much more saleable con? Plus a Infantry officer was likely to become a Panzer Grenadier Officer as units were later mechanised. Even though it has this defect, I still like this cap due to it's great character

The generic "trademark" once read "Deutche Arbeit". The leather sweatband is marked "Deutche leder".
