Hi Ron, you certainly have some very nice items in your collection. I always know I am in for a treat when I see your name at the start of a thread.

Looks like this one once had those small metal and enamel initial letters fastened to the sweatband.

                      Cheers, Ade.

                        Hello,

Beautiful cap. Weimar is ignored by many collectors, but this cap is equal to any TR cap in my humble opinion. Beautiful Reich eagle embroidery, stunning! I would love to have such a cap.

                        Regards,
                        Bill Unland

                          Ron--

Lovely cap, especially in this condition. It seems that 99% of Weimar caps are in average to poor condition--great to see a nice one for a change

Nice one. Interesting to see a private purchase EM/NCO visor cap with bullion wreath which appears to be embroidered directly into the cap band,
as opposed to a more common metal wreath ! The 2nd period photo shows the more common metal wreath, officer with bullion wreath in 1st photo.

Because of that to me it actually looks like officers quality work in fine officers doe skin wool, so an officers pattern cap to include a higher crown...
but with a non officers leather chin strap with non square buckles... ?
Either for an NCO with expensive taste or otherwise its an officer grade visor that was restored with an enlisted chin strap + black buttons...
Looks like actually a LW pattern chin strap was used with tell tail oval buckles...

Compare here: a true enlisted quality RW one...(with square buckles in a different position...yours is way way better quality)

The Weimar bullion eagle cockade is seperate from the wreath and stuck on...So your cap might have also gotten the treatment and converted over to TR Heer,
as you can CLEARLY see 2 holes where the cap eagle once sat! There are probably holes inside the cap where a TR cockade would have been affixed inside the wreath area, so TR style! Pretty much all RW caps were period converted to meet the Heer regulations only to later be re-restored back to an earlier original
                              Weimar spec...

Here's mine for comparison purposes! Got the early TR treatment! Some damage to the top... shown with transitional badges; (note early eagle)= Reichswehr-Heer !
Mine would have been a lot easier to convert to TR specs! Note the early 3 digit cap maker's phone number!
