I also got 2 buckles, an green AK buckle with web tab and an early Heer aluminium pebbeled buckle, Zeiss Binoculars and case (sold them), A nice stag handled forestry dagger (sold it). I passed on so many more things that I don't have pics of like SS, luft, and HJ buckles. If only I knew then what I know now, right.

I still think I made out pretty good.

Good question, I'm not sure. Don't know to much about officer uniforms. Maybe someone else can answer this one for us.

What makes your cap special in terms of condition it the fact that the leather visor looks like it was made yesterday--unlike American USAAF crushers, 9 out of 10 Wehrmacht visors have extensive cracking to the visor, along with what is described as "melt marks" to the surface. Yours was obviously unworn in the field and stored properly.

(Dave--having owned a number of unmarked Pekuros, I have always been of the opinion that they are Pekuro made, as they all exhibit the same construction and form--perhaps some retailers/distributers just did not want the Pekuro logo, for reasons unknown--but I'll keep an open mind!)

Dave I'll get a pic tomorrow. I have a feeling it's just like your cap if my memory still serves me correctly.

Dave How's this? In this pic you can also see the pencil marks (VI) where I guess they used to mark the lengths for cutting the liner.

Yup--this "ribbing" exists even on my "late-war" Pekuro! (Now there's a whole 'nother thread!)

                          I'm convinced!!!
It's amazing how one can identify the real thing just by common manufacturing traits...no stories, excuses etc but it comes right back to the 'item speaks for itself'
                          Regards,
                          Dave
