    HBT Hats

Can anyone give me a good history on when HBT material began to be used for German hats, and when did it stop being used. Was it used post war as well?

I'm not sure what type of hat you are referring to. The Luftwaffe had an HBT overseas hat in both beige and black (although I've personally never seen a beige example). This type of hat was used by ground crews and perhaps drill duty. I believe I've seen the black version dated pre-war or certainly early war (1939). The RAD had a reed-green M43 style HBT hat that is sometimes "refurbished" with wehrmacht insignia. They would date from 1943-45. These are the only HBT hats I can think of and whether post-war used I am not certain.
