Visor of Kavallerie Regt. 5 in the mail today

I´ve got this nice visor of Kavallerie Rgt. 5 with attached skull today.

I think it´s a nice and genuine one. Your opinions are very welcome.

It is a nice original visor that is for sure but I am not too sure on the Reg.5. The piping looks to be lemon yellow for signals.

The piping looks too bright because my camera is not the best and I took the pictures with flash. The piping is the correct gold yellow typ for cavallery

Nice looking cap. Wonder if the skull was added period? I would be concerend about that.

I would think the insignia is period as the eagle is placed nice and high on the peak and i don't see any holes below it to suggest it might have been moved.....

Nice cap, Mado. If there are no other holes to indicate the eagle has been moved to accomodate the skull, I would think this a period application. The hat is definately original!

die Mütze sieht in Ordnung aus, aber der Totenkopf ist kein typischer Totenkopf des Kavallerieregiments 5. Sieht wie ein einfacher Kragenspiegel Totenkopf der Panzertruppe aus. Wurde glaube ich auch ersatzweise genutzt (aber in der Regel nicht). Leider bleibt immer der Zweifel, ob das Stück nicht nachträglich ergänzt wurde, um die Mütze teurer zu machen. Es sind soviele Bastler da draußen und wir werden es wohl nie erfahren.....aber positiv denken!

Yes....it's a panzer skull, not cavalry. But KR5 sometimes wore these...as here...

Normal KR5 skulls were bigger.......

And the eagle was not always high on the cap.......sometimes the TK was lower.....

KR5 (like every German army regiment) had a large signals unit, whose men wore lemon yellow.
