    cardboard visor

    Hello all,

The Luftwaffe officers´visor I have in my collection has a pressed, cardboard visor on it.
Does anyone know from which year the Germans used cardboard for their visors?
Do any of you guys have a visorcap with a pressed cardboard visor?

    Regards,

    Theo

    Hi Schirm!

I don't now, but I have had LW caps with cardboard visors. Those that I
had were just like the visors on POLICE's LW visor cap on the other thread, with the standard oilcloth edging sewn around the rim. These, I believe, were featured on certain maker's caps right through the war years, probably on slightly cheaper or lesser quality caps. There are also LW caps with cardboard visors that look more like the standard vulkanfibre, including the raised forward edge. These, I tend to believe were later-war ersatz (replacement) visors. I may be mistaken, but that is what I have gathered to be correct. Which type do you have? Or another type?
