This was the second cap I ever bought. A nice early example, I've had it for over thirty years and just wanted to show it to you.

No markings except for the handwritten size 57 on the underside of the visor, which is probably accurate though as it is a large size. Pity about the sweatband (that is how I got it) but it does have nice insignia.

That is a nice private purchase. It is a shame about the sweatband. Still a very nice visor.

First I want to say that I´m new in the field of collecting visors. So don´t get me wrong because I may ask silly questions.

You have a very nice visor there !

But I have one question...

Are the chin cord buttons period? I never saw that typ, but my new visor ( the Kavallerie I posted today) has the exact same buttons. I thought someone had replaced them...

Thanks for all your observations guys, and to Thorsten, your question is a good one I am sure. In answer to your question, I would be most surprised if the chinstrap buttons were replacements, I feel sure that they are both period and original to the visor. As NTZ remarked yesterday, this is a private purchase example, (I trust his assessment) and so the maker could have used whatever type of buttons the owner wanted. They appear to be made of either black bakelite or a more likely a very hard black glass. I will let other members have their say on that point.

I tried making some close up pictures earlier tonight. Here are six of the best. Maybe they will be of help.
