LW M43 Help!!

Recently picked this cap (M43?) up from someone liquidating his collection and was wandering:

1) Is it authentic?
2) If so, why does it only have a one piece insignia (LW Eagle Only)
3) What would be it's current market value if original?

I do not have a light to test the fabric. I suppose I should purchase one.
