Hi Albert, I am not a KM collector but I like what I see up to now. The insignia are fine and I suspect the cap is too.

            Cheers, Ade.

Hi Ade, thanks! It is part of the Weller grouping, of which I am selling the uniforms on the e-stand. As there are no visible markings I was curious if that was a German production cap, and if so private purchase or issue.

              BR,
              Albert

Has the cap tally been shortened? it doesn't look like there are the streamers on the reverse as normally seen on most of these types of caps.

                    cap tallies

agood friend of mine served in the u-boot service and over many of the talks we have we discussed cap tallies. He remarked that when he was first sent to the torpedo school the senior students would cut the long tails off the new guys cap tallies. It was done as a way to separate the newbies from the senior guys. He he was called a shavetail being a newbie. So I guess that is where the term "shavetail" originated from the clipping off of the cap tally tails. Might be an "initiation" thing... as he said the senior guys would just come up behind you and clip your tails were gone
