Being a 7 year thread, this is a lot of reading! Having met Janke in Stuttgart and being. Friend of Bill Bureau's I must say hat this compilation is invaluable! There are many great Jankes that are very convincing. Thanks for all of the great posts!

Firstyl, this thread is turning into a "repro crusher/visor" thread. half the hats here aren't even made by Janke! however, the 2 most common non-jankes in this thread are erels. janke never made erel marked hats.

there are 2 grades of erels. One is the crappy made in china erels. ive seem 1 of these on this threead. they are a disgrace to janke name. Here is one.

Nest, is the real erels. tese are sold by reddick, hessen, wehrmacht.es, and a few other places. they are very high quality, and cost between 150 and 180 usd, as opposed to the chinese ones which are only about 60. Here is an example. (please excuse the bundeswehr chincord i put on)

sweatband stamp and "under the hood". please note the lining has been re-sewn, when i removed the padding. it originally has purple thread.

Lastly, whereas the german erels have real leather, the chinese ones have crappy fake leather.

about 50% of this thread is erels, chinese erels, stephan hats, and others. hardly a thread on "Janke"

You are quite right. ..however the so called European Erels are now looking much cheaper in terms of peak quality, leather sweat band paper logo etc.

yes, they are definately much cheaper than jankes. but, they cost 100$ cheaper, too
