                  Carlo I am willing to change my position and with the generals cords I have no choice. Period photos and fine examples that are otherwise untouched have converted me. Although I still have no evidence it took place on lower ranks.

                    I dont understand the problem with the twist of the cord being the wrong way, it seems obvious to me that the cord has been put on upside down.

                      I posted a thread with a wartime pic of a Luftwaffe Officer with reverse twist. Is that what you ment by lower rank?

                        Either way you hold the cord, the twists will stay the same.

                          Although not common there are examples as Mike's Luftwaffe picture shows. Here is an SS portrait from early 1932/33 that shows these cords.
