    Hi Martin,
Sorry but IMHO it's a poor fake
"the fact that the insignia was sewn on during the manufacturing process" is not a proof of authenticity. Some pics reveal that faker(s) didn't have got a powerful enough sewing machine.
    ciao!

From the additional pictures (and thank you for these) I also would entertain a doubt as to this example being an original example.

Although I am not certain as to what pictures the above quote is referring to.

I agree with all the other comments. If offered to me I would pass as well.

          Hi Mr Singer,
I can explain what I was talking about, no problem. Only one example (there are more...) : on picture 4, have look at the rear of headgear. The central vertical lines formed by the two returns of cloth should go down to the bottom of cap and going inside under the lining. If you closely watch this cap rear, you'll see that those vertical lines are cut at two or three cms above the bottom, it means that faker's sewing machine was not powerful enough to sew two more lays of cloth and he/they knew it. Never saw a good one with that specific feature.
          ciao!

            Agreed, a Very uncommon feature.

However, I believe that I have seen this same characteristic on Original SS M43 hats.

              Hi again,
I can't tell you about WSS caps, never got interested in those. But as far as I'm concerned, Heer or WSS caps with this feature, don't are one looker.
              ciao!

I think that is another myth and legend of collecting. Germany did make hats with that feature. I've seen good WSS hats done like that and I have a TENO M43 that I got 15 years ago that has that feature. I suspect there may be some original Heer Army M43s out there too. WR Jim

Exact Jim , it's a legend . Some good Heer's and Lw's also have this feature
Sadly a lot of fakes too (easier to make) like the one in this thread and it's why a lot of collectors think all M43's with it are bad

Thank you all for taking the time to look over this cap. I shall pass on this purchase. Martin
