So far it looks good IMO but what in the world is that aluminum piping doing on the base of the cap??

I have no idea. Never seen that before on any DD cap.

André, the general feeling is good, the materials and the construction is OK IMO, but as you said, the finished of the base of the cap is really rare. No idea about what it is.
