                      Carlo, to be sure of your piping color, take your piping where it's hide on the back for example, open the piping for verify the inside color, it's sad but it's work !
                      soory again, but for me it's a GREAT copy, the stamp " DEUTSCH ARBEIT" is know to be a fake, and the sweatband and the visor, the kordel, plastic diamond, and the inside manufacture is not ok for me...

                        Carlo, exposed stitching at the base is not always a sign of foul play with the piping or re-banding. It can also come from post war repairs and I think that is where this cap falls. The sweatband looks to have been reattached and some other work done to it. I think the cap itself might be ok.

                        I 100% fully disagree with Wolften regarding this maker mark being a fake. Yes it is faked but it is also a true mark used on period visors. In fact it is a rather common mark.

                        I just looked again, the visor it period and the shield is cello. The visor has been re-attached and sweatband also. I can't tell what the stitching is from.

                        I figured I would add one more comment. Out of the three of four “Deutche Arbeit” marked visors I have seen the maker seems to use the same material for the cap. I don’t think it is true wool. I believe it to be felted trikot.

                          Nick,
                          I never seen real caps with this logo " DEUTSCH ARBEIT" I have just seen only fake with this taylor stamp, I don't like lot of thing on this cap :
                          * the diamond taylor ( for me a plastic )
                          * the sweatband is too new
                          * the kordel is post war ? Est German ?
                          * the inside manufacture cap
                          * visor

                          but I don't know as many thing as NTZ, so I Believe that say NTZ !

                            Wolften the cap cord is 110% period. It is your standard cello cord. I think you are lossing it.

                              Ok Wolften, here is another “DEUTSCH ARBEIT” that was once mine. In fact Jeremy has this one now (hope you don’t mind ). The foil has flaked off the shield but it still has the imprint. The exact same mark. I can assure you the cap is 100% period and a pretty nice one at that. I am pretty sure Wilkins even mentions these in his book somewhere.
