    Luftwaffe NCO/OR Visor info.

I have a Luftwaffe cap which has a name and unit identification. Any info you may have in regards to the stamp would be very appreciated. Thanks.

Sorry. I forgot to add that the cap has orange waffenwarbe and my research indicates that "Boelcke" was a He 111 squadron or group. Can this cap be researched more in terms of an individual, service records ect. Thanks again.

Unfortunately there is no name to research. Above the Boelcke stamp it is marked to an airfield (Fliegerhorst, or Fl.H.) command (Kommandateur, or K.) at Wunstorf (the name of the town). Nice piece, show the front when you can.

Thanks Gene. That info is just what I am after. I had no idea that specific airfields would have been identified. Do you think this was the case because before the war squadrons did not move around much and had a homebase?

Bill, Will you please post a picture of the orange waffenfarbe? I have not seen the orange before. Thanks

The pre-war and early war tunics, visor hats, belt buckle tabs, helmet chin straps and other pieces of field gear were often unit and base marked. Because of the obvious intelligence value to an enemy, this was stopped in 1941 I believe.

Nice cap,but I guess the piping is just gold brown,so for signal,I don't think there was an orange waffenfarbe at the luftwaffe.
