Allg. SS Officer's Visor- Lining

Gentlemen...
Could I please have opinions on this cap lining? Its supposed to be an Allgemeine SS Officer's visor...Has anyone seen one in this odd colour before? What about this style of sweatband on an Allg. cap? Thanks for your opinions...

It does show some signs of the 1960’s fakes but from these photos I would not go there yet. How are the lining edges cut? How is the lining attached? What type of pasteboard was used?

Thanks for the replies...here are some additional pics. My thoughts are that a lining and sweatband like this may be appropriate for some Third Reich caps, but it is not the sort of thing I would have expected to find in an Allgemeine Officer's cap. There is one other feature which raises a red flag for me, and which I haven't seen discussed before, and that is the rather pronounced ridges along the leading and rear edges of the visor. What I generally like to see on original caps of this era are much more subtle ridges without the sharper edges seen here...NTZ- what are your thoughts on this?

The new photos are not the best but I saved them and zoomed in a bit. I must say I like the cap even less with those photos. I don’t think it is the 60’s type fakes I was thinking of. In fact from the new pic the diamond looks much more like celluloid. For me the interior is a mess. Not what you would see from extensive wear but from trying to re-line a visor. The folds go every which way, it is wrinkled in all different directions, the cut on the lining ends are all uneven. Then to add you have the white thread holding it in. Don’t get me wrong they sure did use white thread on period visors but the thread look too white for the king of wear and aging the lining shows. There is one thing that is almost certain. That cap was not lined by a period cap maker. One thing I learned from Donald when he was on the forum is to respect the quality and craftsmanship of period visors. This one falls way short.

Regarding the visor ridge, I didn’t even notice that but now that you brought it up I think your right.

Hi guys, as Nick has said, the interior is a mess and not of the materials I would like to see, especially in an Allg. Officers cap. Some external shots would be good though, just for the hell of it.

Just thought I'd chime in and post an interior shot of a very "salty", but very original EARLY Allg. SS EM visor that I have - it happens to have the same color of lining in your Officer version. I have the exterior of this cap posted in my Avatar on GDC. Some day I will get better pics of the entire cap, but for now, I thought I'd share this with you. The lining on my cap was peeled loose many years ago by someone to change the early political eagle with an M36 eagle (repro unfortunately), so you can really see the craftmanship that went into making these things - I have studied it for some time. It even has a white wax crayon/pencil mark (of some kind of number if I remember correctly) on the cardboard band that I assume is from the tailor. No RZM tag - the cap was probably made privately or prior to the tag becoming more popular. Some day I will post more pics, but I thought you might like to see this . . .
