    Thanks for all the comments, these aren't really my "thing" but I was led to believe this was a good one so I guess I'll be contacting the guy I made the exchange with.

      Although I agree that this cap isn't good I have to say that M40 caps were produced in tan, just not in the numbers of the olive and sage green examples. I've seen and handled original tan examples as I'm sure quite a few other collectors have. I do know that Robert Lubstein did make tan caps and of course some Frankenstein caps were tan. I know that Frankenstein caps are the most easily faded of all caps but having handled a original mint tan example I can definitely say that they did produce them. I hope this info is helpful.
