      Nice one

Looks like a perfectly righteous infantry officers cap to me. The wear on the cap looks legit.

With out a doubt the cap is 100% authentic but there are two signs of a repaired sweatband. First in posts #6 & #9 it looks like you can see a past impression on the lining were the sweatband used to end. Now is rides a bit higher. Then you have the large spaces in the stitching on the sweatband (common for reattached sweatbands). The one way to check this and confirm you have a cut down reattached sweatband is by looking at the visor. Pull the sweatband back from the visor and see how the visor is secured. If those long stitches go through the visor every other hole or so and no other stitching is securing the visor you know 100% sure it was reattached. Not the kiss of death as I just found out one of mine had a reattached sweatband, lol (see Luft Generals post for photos). Still all original and nice.

I just wanted to add this could be a perfectly legit period repair if the sweatband was reattached. The wear and fit look good.

            Hi Willys,
            A very smart looking cap.
I am not sure about the long stitches attaching the sweatband though, it may ok, it is just something i have not seen before. I am no expert though.
Shame about the moved chin cord buttons.

            Steve.
