    visor opinions please!!!

    Hi guys,

    I need some opinions with this one.Seller has no more pics at this time.He guarantees it's original,I have a 2 week money back deal if I take it.
    Piping colour should be dark green for administration.
    I'm a bit concerned about the vents,I thought they were only on non-army related caps,like feuershutzpolizei.
    Or is it nothing to worry about?

    If this cap is good,what would be the value of it?
    Thanks,
    all the best,
    Jeremy

              Jeremy,

              I do not like this cap and I think that you are completely right to be suspicious about it too. My concerns would be as follows:-

              - air vent on the sides indicate post-war porduction (air vents for policce visors are often very different from those ones);
              - sweat shield made of souple plastic, also indicating post-war production;
              - leather sweat band showing not wear whatsoever and of apparence very thick and new;
              - the cord of the wrong lenght.

              It is definitely a Pekuro, but al the above suggest that it is a post-war one to which Third Reich insigna was applied (I also have my doubt as to the insigna which looks a bit too shinny and the design of which seems to be also quite suspicious).

              Given all the above, my advice would be: bad choice. Sorry if that brings bad news to you but it is part of the collector's life, isn't it?

              Kind regards

              Alex

                  Hi Alex,

                  No need to say sorry,it is indeed part of collecting,thanks very much for your reply.
                  This cap is for sale very cheap,but I need to be sure.

                  Best

                    Hi Jeremy, the cap is indeed a Pekuro but a West German one. In fact I think it is an early West German border guard. Too bad some idiot put TR insignia on it. It would have been a neat cap to have.

                      Thanks Nick,

                      I'll have to inform the seller about this,I guess he doesn't know it either.He won't be happy....

                        Jeremy is the visor cross-hatched? I am pretty sure this is a real early one.

                          Nick,I've asked myself this too,and I guess if you look real good to pic 5,at the right side where the sun shines on the visor,you can see crosshatching IMO.

                            Definite cross-hatching visable on post #5.
                            Jeremy, I would ask for some better photos - No one can be expected to make an informed choice from those pics........
                            Good luck,
                            Steve.

                              My guess is early 1950's border guard. It is a shame, whould have been a nice cap.
