    Researching named SS Officer's Schirmuetze

    Liste,
I have an SS Officer Schirmuetze piped in white with the officers first and last name on the small paper tag under the sweat diamond. Following his name I have a partial SS nr. I'd like to do some more research on this officer so can anyone point me in the right direction? The Muetze was made by Erich B Einhorn from Braunschweig. The cap is is in pretty rough shape with a lot of fading to the whipcord type material. The silk liner is quite sweat stained the leather sweat band is very stained but not stiff. This cap has definetly seen a lot of use. Can anyone tell me if this was a common manufacturer of SS muetzen and was he recognized as a quality manufacturer?

The makers name is not familiar to me and I would have to say that most collectors would be nervous of an SS visor with a makers logo/stamps because nearly all authenticated examples that have surfaced are completely devoid of any makers marks with just a blank celluloid diamond. Having said that, I do own this visor that is marked and I feel it's a genuine example but I would have to addmit that it goes against the grain.
Can you post pics of the cap in question?

Sorry, but I am not a paying member yet so posting fotos is impossible for now. I don't have a photo bucket account or anything else like that. I suppose the only way to post a foto for all to see would be for me to pony up the $25. It's for a good cause since I find this list to be one of the most helpful and informative that I have ever been a part of.
I'll try to get this done in the next few days.

          Rob,
Thanks, I will take you up on your help but I think first I need to join the list, submitt a few fotos, and make sure this cap is authentic before I waste anyone else's time. I have had the cap for the last 12+ years and I have always thought it was original but I do not know for sure. As a matter of fact, I have been collecting German items since I was a teenager and I suppose now that I am 40 years old, I should know exactly what I have instead of speculating on what I have. When I join the list, I'll post fotos of the cap and others here on this forum. The Schirmuetze fotos I'll post on this thread.

          Thanks,

          Sepp
