Late war luft M43 -- opinions?

I recently purchased this M43. Hard to read, but I believe that it's dated 1944. I have some thoughts on it, but I don't want to bias the jury. Comments appreciated!

Thanks for taking the time to post your opinions, fellas. I had heard that the HBT lining was suspect (hence my solicitation for opinions), but it was my belief that HBT was not uncommon in late war caps.

That type of lining is fine (especially in that type of hat).
